Renters Information
Provides Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) funds which are used to make housing affordable for income-eligible families, elderly persons, and persons with disabilities. Eligible activities include rental subsidy, security deposit, and/or utility deposit programs

Kansas Rural Development- U.S. Dept. of Agriculture
Offers a variety of housing programs to help meet the housing needs of moderate, low and very low income rural Kansans. Assistance is available for purchasing a first home, providing seriously needed repairs to a home, or providing an apartment

Financial Assistance Services

Housing and Credit Counseling, Inc. (HCCI)
HCCI assists the community by helping consumers achieve housing and financial goals and resolve related difficulties with dignity

Consumer Credit Counseling Services, Inc. (CCCS)
Offers financial solutions through education and counseling

El Centro, Inc.
El Centro address the needs and improve the lives of Kansas City, KS Hispanic residents

Mennonite Housing Rehabilitation Services, Inc.
Mennonite Housing Rehabilitation Services, Inc., is for people who can not obtain home repair or decent housing in any other way

Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC)
(General housing and energy related assistance programs.)
Kansas Department for Children and Families
(The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is a federally funded program that helps eligible households pay a portion of their home energy costs by providing a one-time per year benefit.)

Kansas Gas Service (part of ONEOK) and Salvation Army
Share The Warmth helps Kansans facing financial emergencies pay their home heating costs and stay warm through the winter. It’s available to Kansans in the 78 counties served by Kansas Gas Service, but the applicant is not required to be a Kansas Gas Service customer.

Atmos Energy
(Share the Warmth is a service of Atmos Energy who work with numerous community energy-assistance agencies across the United States. These nonprofit agencies accept applications from people needing assistance and share the available funds according to their established program guidelines. Click here to search for locations.)

Aquila, Inc. (part of Black Hills Energy)
(Cold Hands/Warm Hearts- HeatShare is a utility assistance program administered through The Salvation Army with assistance available throughout Kansas counties served by Aquila, Inc. HeatShare provides assistance with heating and cooling bills, and when funds permit, with emergency repairs to furnaces, air conditioners and hot-water heaters.)

Kansas City Power & Light
(Dollar-Aide helps families pay their heating, cooling and water bills during financially pressing times to avoid loss of service.)

Westar Energy
(Westar Energy helps customers in need of aid with electric service costs, emergency repair and purchase of vital heating or cooling equipment through projects like Project Deserve.)

Support Groups

Kansas Statewide Homeless Coalition (KSHC)

(KSHC links with State and Federal agencies, organizations, and individuals to garner and provide support toward effectively addressing the needs of those experiencing homelessness. The KSHC respects the choices made by the individuals being served, and builds on their strengths to assist them in moving toward their goals of independence and full citizenship.)
